Over 20 drawings spanning from 2009 to 2015, including the never exhibited before 'Studio' will be shown in Marie Harnett's first US solo show at Theodore Art in New York. The Yale Centre for British Art, will be displaying the linocut "Costume Party" as part of their "Decade of Gifts and Acquisitions" exhibition. They acquired the linocut in 2016 and this is the first time it will be on display. Works by Anish Kapoor and Richard Hamilton, among others, will also be included in the exhibition. The linocut 'Cowboys' is to be part of a group exhibition at the Alan Cristea Gallery. New Beginnings will showcase over 40 signature pieces by some of the world's most celebrated international artists including Cornelia Parker, Richard Serra and Christiane Baumgartner, alongside bold and exciting new works by the younger generation of contemporary practitioners. Three drawings from the 'Anna Karenina' series (2014) are to be part of the drawing exhibition Everything Exists Now at the Kristin Hjellegjerde gallery in London. The show brings together 13 artists who reflect on their current moment through personal, political and historical viewpoints through the medium of drawing. It's the final two weeks of the "Last Year in Marienbad: A Film as Art" exhibition at Galerie Rudolfinum in Prague. The exhibition originally opened at Kunsthalle Bremen last year and they interviewed Marie Harnett about her work for the exhibition. The interview can be seen here and the drawings being exhibited can be seen here. The exhibition closes at the Rudolfinum on the 27th November 2016.
’Telephone’, a linocut Marie Harnett made for the 20th Anniversary exhibition of the Alan Cristea Gallery, where all proceeds went to charity, was acquired by The Museum of Modern Art in New York last year. The linocut can now be seen on their website here. The image for ’Telephone' is from the film Factory Girl, which also inspired a mezzotint series by Harnett which can be seen here.
This group exhibition opens 7th September 2016 at the Rudolfinum Galerie in Prague. It brings together a collection of works that have been inspired by the film Last Year in Marienbad. There are works by Marie Harnett, Pablo Bronstein, Gerhard Richter and Jeff Koons, among others. The exhibition was originally seen at Kunsthalle Bremen earlier this year. "Costume Party" is to be part of the Linocut Today exhibition at Städtische Galerie Bietigheim-Bissingen. The exhibition opens 16th July 2016 and runs until the 3rd October 2016. The Linocut Today exhibition takes place every three years in Bietigheim-Bissingen with the aim to support contemporary artists working in the linocut technique.
Marie Harnett has been awarded the Ruth Katzman Scholarship for the League Residency at Vyt in New York, which she will complete in April 2016.
Two of Marie Harnett's drawings from the Gatsby II series will be on show in the "Drawing on Drawing" exhibition at Edinburgh College of Art. The exhibition will run from the 22nd February until the 4th of March 2016. More information can be found here.
